v2.35.0 (2026-09-15)
Overview
Vite Horizon 2.35.0 gives announcements a permanent home — a new What's New section in Settings — and adds 100 m and 1 km grids to the A3 Portrait print layout.
This page also covers v2.34.0, which added the announcement channel itself, and two follow-up fixes:
- v2.35.1 — the announcement message came back every time Horizon was reloaded;
- v2.35.2 — Quick Filter did not work on very large whole-number (Big Integer) fields.
Breaking Changes
None in this release.
New Features and Improvements
What's New in Settings
The Horizon team can now tell you about new features, changes and planned maintenance without releasing a new version of Horizon, and the message stays somewhere you can find it again.
- When there is an announcement, a short message appears over the map. For a new release it reads "Horizon has been updated" — "Version 2.37.0 — see Settings › What's New for what changed." — with a What's new button that opens the section.
- Settings → What's New holds the full announcement: its title and message, the version it relates to, a short list of highlights (each can have a Learn more link), and sometimes a link to the full release notes.
- The Settings (gear) button shows a dot until you open What's New. The message over the map closes itself after a few seconds, so the dot is how you know there is something you have not read yet.
- When there is nothing to announce, the section says Nothing new right now.
See What's New Section.
Not the same as "Update available"
What's New is about what changed. The separate "Update available" message is about your browser tab running an old copy of Horizon — see Application Updates.
A3 Portrait gets 100 m and 1 km grids
The A3 Portrait print layout now offers the same grid options as A4 Portrait — 100m Grid, 1k Grid, Auto Grid and No Grid — and starts on the 1k Grid, as A4 Portrait does. Choose Auto Grid if you prefer the previous default. See Grid Options.
Fixed in v2.35.1: the announcement came back on every reload
In v2.35.0 the announcement message over the map reappeared every time Horizon was reloaded, unless you had left the tab open long enough for it to close by itself. It is now shown once. Nothing is lost by that: the dot on the Settings button and the What's New section still keep the announcement until you have read it.
Fixed in v2.35.2: filtering on Big Integer fields
Some layers store IDs and counts in ArcGIS's Big Integer field type, which holds much larger whole numbers than an ordinary integer field. Horizon treated these fields as text, so a Quick Filter on one compared the number as a word and never returned the right features.
Big Integer fields are now handled as numbers throughout:
- Quick Filter, the Filter Editor's visual builder, the Value row on the SQL Expression tab, the Legend filter and the Feature Table filter all compare them as numbers;
- the value you type is used exactly as typed, however large — it is never rounded to a nearby number;
- they can be used for statistics (Sum, Average, Min, Max), in the Chart tool, and as the observer-number field in Viewshed Points and Visibility Surface, none of which offered them before.
Fields holding a date only, a time only, or a date and time with a time-zone offset are also no longer treated as text.
Under the Hood
- Announcements are read from a small file that is published separately from Horizon, so one can be published, corrected or withdrawn without a new release (v2.34.0).
- Horizon now recognises all of ArcGIS's field types; five of them used to be read as text.
- ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript updated to 5.1.24.
