Tools Overview

Overview

Horizon's tools cover data management, querying, visualisation, and general utilities. These tools are accessed from the left toolbar (panels) and right toolbar (action tools).

Data Management

  • Add Layer: Import layers from Horizon's data catalog, ArcGIS REST services, WMS, and WMTS endpoints
  • Base Layer: Switch between background basemap options
  • My Layers Tool: Create, manage, and organise personal map layers with custom names and styles
  • Uploader: Upload local files to the map (Shapefile ZIP, KML, GPX, CSV)

Data Query

  • Feature Table: View layer attributes in an interactive table with spatial filtering, sorting, column visibility, and export
  • Filter Tool: Apply attribute filters and SQL queries to layer data with statistics and spatial filtering
  • Chart Tool: Create charts from layer data with 10 chart types (bar, line, pie, scatter, histogram, box plot, radar, gauge, heat chart, combo)
  • Canopy Height Model Filter: Filter and visualise WMS-based canopy height model layers by height range

Routing

  • State Growth Routing Tool: Route planning and turn-by-turn directions using the State Growth Tasmania road, rail, and forestry networks

Output & Utilities

  • Print Panel: Professional map printing with customisable layouts, legends, and scale bars
  • Bookmark: Save and restore map views with named spatial bookmarks
  • AI Chat Tool: Dual-mode AI assistant with Horizon AI for spatial questions and Knowledge Search for documentation queries
  • System Panel: Application settings, user preferences, and system configuration
